Made from old-growth, hand-salvaged red alder from the Tongass National Forest in Sitka, Alaska.
This unique vessel is an interplay of textures ranging from silky smooth sanded surfaces to jagged bark intrusions. Zach left faint tool marks on the rim, then sanded for juxtaposition. He had a lot of fun with this piece, shaping it with the rugged outer coast of Southeast Alaska in heart and mind. The piece comes from where the main trunk of an alder grew into two trunks.
This conversation-starter will display perfectly on the mantle or coffee table. And as with all of Zach's work, it is sealed with food-grade tung & citrus oils.
