Made from old-growth, hand-salvaged Mountain Ash from Sitka, Alaska.
The tree this piece was made from grew on a prominent hill overlooking the town of Sitka. Thin soils and storms made the tree grow slowly.
Zach shaped this piece with that delicate balance in mind, between growth and a solid foundation. This bowl is remarkably light in the hand. It's rounded shape is further balanced with a fine bead around its girth.
This piece was completed after two years of drying the wood slowly outside. You'll notice that in final drying, the bowl warped further. Once fully dry, Zach snuck a flat base on the pleasant curve.
This vessel is ready for display alone or with your special items. It is finished with food-grade tung oil and citrus, and is 100% food-safe.
