Made from an old-growth, hand-salvaged Sitka Spruce stump from the Tongass National Forest in Sitka, Alaska.
What happens when Zach shapes a fine piece of spruce and finds a rock grown into the stump for centuries? Well...this does! Zach left the rock to define the shape of this vessel after sharpening his tools at least a hundred times. Hours of sanding and polishing revealed a persistence of both tree and artist.
The vessel is intended to display, to observe, to consider, and to talk about with friends.
This is the first piece in a limited Persistence series.
