Made from old-growth, hand-salvaged Sitka spruce from the Tongass National Forest in Sitka, Alaska.
This rare figured wood came from the base of a small Sitka spruce that grew for hundreds of years, presumably at the edge of a cliff, because Zach found and salvaged this piece after it had floated for year.
Iridescence radiates from the wood in golden hues that alternate depending upon the angle you look from. The live edge grew underground for centuries until the ocean loosened the bark and Zach meticulously cleaned the surface.
This vessel is designed for prominent display on the mantel or table. It comes with a companion piece, also from the same tree root. Both pieces speak to endurance, to growing with beauty in the face of adversity.
This is the first piece in a limited Endurance series.
