Every vessel is an exploration into a tree. Zach shaped this bowl from a part of the tree that leaned hard and grew with the center (heart) of the tree offset to one side. The result is a dense heart that fans into wider growth rings.
The outside of this bowl retains tools marks, but was still sanded to a silky smooth surface.
What looks like a small dark bite out of the rim of this bowl is actually the bark edge of a tree branch. You'll also notice Zach's signature treatment of the rim: crisp edges where flowing curves meet.
